Meet Dr. Grimmett

Danel J. Yowell-Grimmett, DVM was raised in Reydon, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1997 with a BS in Biology/Chemistry.  She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2003.  After graduation she worked as a small animal veterinarian in Edmond and Oklahoma City for two years before moving to South Carolina.  In South Carolina she was employed at a 24-hour veterinary emergency and critical care hospital for two years.  During this time, she worked closely with the Columbia HSPCA investigating animal cruelty cases and promoting the good works of the HSPCA.  In 2007, Dr. Grimmett and her family moved to Nelson, New Zealand where she was employed as an associate veterinarian in a mixed animal veterinary practice.  The Grimmett family returned to Edmond in April 2009.

Dr. Grimmett has been married to her husband, Sam Grimmett, for six years.  They met during her senior year of veterinary school when she traveled to New Zealand for training.  Together they have two daughters, Willow Anne, age five, born in Edmond, Oklahoma and Coral Leigh, age six months, born in Nelson, New Zealand.  They have two dogs; Gracie Faye, a Maltese terrier and Emmy Lou, an English Setter.

In her spare time, Dr. Grimmett enjoys watching Oprah, preparing the occasional Martha Stewart meal, back country hiking and camping, boating, fishing, riding Harley-Davidson Trikes, beach volleyball, yoga, hanging out with family and friends, and working as a part-time beautician.  She can regularly be seen doing fitness infomercials on the QVC channel.
